Welcome to my "Web Museum of Stereoscopic Photography".|
Stereo photography is exciting!
Ordinary photos show things in 2 dimensions, but stereo images show life as we see it, in 3-D.
Stereo photography works the same way we see the world through our two eyes, by using two slightly different views. When we look at stereo pictures, we experience depth and realism like looking at the original scene. What a miracle!
I was a photographer taking regular pictures before I got
interested in stereo photos. Like many people, I first saw
stereo images with View-Master reels. Back in 1962, an American student friend sent me some of her View-Master reels and they were amazing!
When I saw 3-D pictures of American life back then, I thought it would be fantastic to make such exciting images, but I didn't know how.
I thought expensive specialized equipment and advanced techniques were necessary to make 3-D pictures.
Cut to the present time, and lots of information is easy to
find on the internet. Old stereo cameras aren't expensive and even simple digital cameras can be used to make nice stereo photos. Once you understand the basic principles, it's easy to
learn by doing and improve your technique. And there are clubs and groups where people who enjoy stereo photos meet and share their images, enthusiasm and knowledge.
Since I live in Kobe, Japan, I joined the Kansai Stereo Photo
Club "3D KANSAI" &"ISU"some years ago. We meet four times a year and share news, show stereo photos and 3-D videos, and learn more about the wonderful world of stereo photography.
I hope you enjoy the 3-D pictures on my website and will try stereo photography yourself, if you don't shoot 3-D already!
